Media case study

  1. Some interesting ideas Alex. It would pay you to back up some of these findings with some evidence, and also to consider the audience demographics of each festival (influenced by musical genre, location and cost etc). Another useful area to look into would be the benefits to bands of playing at festivals - especially given the era of digital piracy.

  2. Right the audience demographic of each festival are influenced by the location, for example since Download is situated at Donington park, this place has been the area to hold rock orientated festivals for decades, with monsters of rock being on the same site years prior, this means that the audience for a festival at Donington will only be happy with Rock music and nothing else, which makes them particular about the bands that they want to see, there. This has made it that thanks to the location Rock music is the genre of choice for any festival here, which means that the place has already tapped into a certain audience who feel Donington is the home of rock. Therefore since the genre of the music at Download festival and location are heavily linked with Rock music they have already established their target audience which i feel is people from the age of 18 + as Rock music is irrespective of age, proven by AC/DC who brought in a massive fan base of fans older than 40, this is contrasted with the other headliner Rage against the machine who brought in the younger fans, therefore download appeals to such a vast age, the only parameter for their target audience really i that the person enjoys rick music and its sub genre, this can be contrasted with Latitude and i will post that in a day or so.
