The danger of doing drug reference in our media production and how we are going to do it

Ideas for suggesting drug references in our music video

In our music video we need to reference drug abuse, without being to full on, so the props we are going to use need to be rather discrete. Ideas for discrete drug references that we could use could be, stuff such as normal cigarettes dotted around the floor.

I believe that make up could also be a very effective device to project the illusion that the characters in our music video are taking drugs, for example we could use make up to make there skin look pale, we could use it to give them that classic big eye bag look that some may associate with drug use, but most importantly and effectively I believe that if we could make it look like the characters have a variety of cuts and bruised on them it would like they have been up to no good, which one could associate with drug use.

To show the characters are high we could use the camera technique of filming in day time but using the camera in night vision mode as this can leave an interesting blurred and almost disoriented look, and if we use this effect while using it as a point of view shot it would suggest that the character could be high and that is why the world looks like that.

We must be careful though as I have been told that we can not be to full on when referencing drugs as it then might be unacceptable, and that is the last thing we want when trying to make a music video for A2 media, as it being unacceptable will greatly inhibit our products potential.
