Moral panics

What is a moral panic?

Moral panic is an interesting social phenomenon that can have tragic results. The term is used to describe a state of panic induced in a large group of people, who feel that a societal norm or an aspect governing the safety of people is being seriously threatened. The term is the creation of sociologist Stanley Cohen, who examined the way that Mods and Rockers were perceived as a threat to society in the 1960s and early 1970s. Moral panic clearly existed prior to Cohen creating the term. Virtually every dance style introduced in the 20th century created such panic; even the waltz was condemned much earlier as a sure path to sin because the couples embraced each other. Moral panics have been around for ages, even Plato thout that youth vulture was something worth worrying about.

An example of a modern moral panic

Knife crime seems to be today’s moral panic, although there have been few incidents it seems that the media has decided to brand everyone that wears a hoody as a hooligan and they must be carrying a knife. Of course this Is not true but it has turned into moral panic, and moral panics always seem to be surrounding youth cultures. Most young men don't carry knives; most young people are not components of what some politicians are calling the 'broken society'. It is just simple scapegoating, as youths will always be easy to blame.

The future of moral panic
I believe that along as there is a youth culture of any sort there will always be a moral
panic surrounding the, and I ma sure in the future when I am older I will be part of the
Elder generation that is positive that youth culture has become more destructive from
when I was young, however I doubt that it would it will actually be the case that
thereis a problem with the youths of the future, I feel that I will have just become
more paranoid. So I believe there will always be moral panics and this will continue
in the future.

Progres on filming

Progress of our filming

WE have finished our filming after one successful filming session on the Sunday of the 30th of October.

We had tried to film on a number of occasions before this but certain conditions and variables demanded that we were not able to film before this date, so we are very pleased that we finally got a good filming session done, and are happy with the footage that we captured. Weather wise the conditions were perfect as it was a sunny day with only a few clouds in the sky, but since these clouds were low the moved very quickly which means that when we come to editing the sky may look slightly different from frame to frame, however this could not really be avoided.

All in all I am very happy that me and Chris have got our filming done as we can now edit it into the actual music video.

Analysing the magazine advert for the album #2

Analysing the magazine advert for the album #2

Sarah Blasko: As Day Follows Night

The advertisement is found in Mojo magazine, it being in mojo magazine may suggest that it is alternative genre album that may not be able to be pigeon hold for a certain genre, this is because Mojo is a music magazine that normally advertises and reviews music of most rock and alternative music, Mojo is defiantly not a commercial magazine for music. This advert is taking up a whole page which may suggest that it is a important or a highly anticipated album. The target audience for this album may be for a more sophisticated and/or elder generation, this is because as opposed to a magazine such as smash hits Mojo is not aimed at teenagers or young adults and Mojo is not commercial music.

The writing in this music advertisement is rather plain, interesting however is that the name of the Artist is in black while the writing of the album is in white. This I think is clever as the name of the album follows the name of the artist, it follows, and the artist is in black which could connote that it is night, and the album is white, this may represent day following night, just like the album name. The artwork in the advertisement is I am guessing a picture of that actual singer of the album. This picture is her face planted on rather bland background, but then there is a sudden explosion of colour. All of this could connote that the album is a explosion of new talent on a rather bland music scene, with her face being at the front of the picture suggesting that she is at the forefront of the latest wave of talent.

There is no telling when it will/was released, which is odd, but that may just suggest that it has been already released, and they are simply re-promoting it. However there are many reviews on the page and they are all either 4 or 5 stars, from various different sources, this is the advertiser trying to show it is a really well reviewed album, and that if you have not heard of it you are not really in touch with the in scene and for you to become int touch with this scene you need to buy this album.

Just thought, about how media will be dealt with in the future.

I beleive that media will actually be even more important in the future and will have to be dealt with more seriosly, by this i mean more people will probably be sent to jail and be punished for doing illeagel things online such as piracy, as in the future, it may be the exact same as stealing from a shop, and illeagel downloaders may be seen as shoplifters. just a thought. So security on sites will have to increase and be policed more, like security gaurs almost. So for me i beleive that media will huave to ebh dealt with more serilsy and particularly in protecting things online and will be policed more

How can Human Traffic be seen as a metaphor for the effects model and gratifications model of media?

How can Human Traffic be seen as a metaphor for the effects model and gratifications model of media?

Human traffic can be seen as a metaphor for both these model through the use of drugs in the film.

The effects model is the hypodermic model. This sees the audience as duped and doped. In this case the film Human Traffic film could be seen as a metaphor in the way that in the film they suggest how when on drugs a confidence boost, this may make the audience feel that the movie is almost advertising drugs, the example of this is when at a party when the characters are high they manage to socialise to people and have their confidence to do this, which they would not have normally had if they were not on drugs, this may fit into the effects model because the audience may be duped into thinking that they can take drugs in a similar situation and it would be alright to do so. However it is not so later in the film when the characters experience the come down effects of taking drugs and all the confidence is taken away and replaced with a feeling of isolation.

The gratifications model can be seen as more power to the people. This is when an audience actively seeks out media; they are typically seeking it in order to gratify a need. Human traffic cane be seen as gratifying the need in the way that drugs are represented, as in a way drugs are positively shown throughout the production maybe this is what the audience wants to see and this is why they have actively found and watched human traffic and this show signs of the use and gratifications model.

Analysing a magazine advert for a album

Analysing a magazine advert for a album

Tom Jones: Praise & Blame

The advertisement is found at the back of the magazine mojo, first of all the advert taking up a whole page worth of space suggests that the album is big or important album, furthermore if it is at the back the news of this advert could be seen as nearly as important as the actual cover and be seen as important as any single thing or aspect inside the magazine. Also the advert being in mojo could suggest that this album is more sophisticated and for a elder generation as opposed to if it was in a magazine such as smash hits you would expect it to be a commercial album that is intended for the younger generation.

The name of the album and artwork work very well together as in the album picture is off a church built there is a very black depre4siing background this juxtaposition could bee seen as the white church as being hope and the black background being blame, and since the album is called praise & Blame I believe that this works very well together.

The add also tells us when the album will be released and who helped work on the album e.g. producer and who the producer as worked with before the album, that is a kind of promotion in the ay they are kind of suggestion if you like the artist the producer worked with before you will love this. There is a also a quote from newspaper saying about how good the album is, also promotion as if you value what this newspaper says you will already think the album si alright as a media text you have already consumed is telling you to consume this one.

Skills I developed from my AS year in Media studies

Skills I developed from my AS year in Media studies

I earned a vast amount about digital technology last year. The first skills I really amassed last year was knowledge of different camera techniques and how to use the digital camera to the best effect. I did a fair bit of filming when it came to making our media product last year which was an opening to a thriller film, one interesting technique that I used last year was using night vision mode on the camera in the day time, this gave a somewhat weird effect which we used when showing our flashback, this is because it gave it a somewhat dream like effect. Last year we also learnt how top record sound on the apple make, we did this to make our own ‘real’ radio segment that we put in our media thriller, we had a sound booth to do this to allow the found to sound more legitimate and have no distractions. I also used a digital camera when looking for locations of our media thriller. The good things about software last year was that since we were using new apple mac computers all the programs we used were very up to date, however the bad point for me was that we were using apple macs as I much prefer pc’s as I find them less complicated and generally nicer to use.

Creativity was a important aspect of my AS last year as we had to create our won thriller opening. I believe that I personally dealt with creativity well and came up with valuable ideas for our media product last year. The most valuable ideas I came up with last year were mostly narrative, for some reason I seem to most enjoy coming up with new ideas for storylines because I find it really exciting to see your initial ideas actually turned into a product so the whole ideas part for me is a very exciting and interesting time in any media production.

As for stuff I learnt through the research and planning of our product was through watching movies and making case studys, the case study’s to show evidence of
this will be on my other blog which was for AS level ( this is my blog for A2 media). For improvements I would like to do more secondary research as I did mostly primary last year, I believe that secondary research would be important as I would be able to see how other people analyze movies which would give me another opinion which I believe would allow me to further improve my work.

For post-production we used a the apple macs and final cut express I believe, could be wrong though, this was useful program as it is a rather more professional program than ones I have used in that past I mean this in the way that you can crop any of you clips to any size overlap frames slow/down, and add so many different effects, all in all I learnt a lot in the ways of editing, we found out about rather useful editing techniques when it comes to making the opening of a film.

I believe however that is is very hard to create a completely original median text, as there will always be a aspect that has been thought up or done by someone else somewhere in time, like when we filmed in black and white and used a flashback sequence for example, the show flash-forward did something very similar but instead of a flashback it was a flash-forward, this shows that is it hard to make something completely original. We followed to thriller conventions of building suspense in out thriller and leaving mystery about what is really happening, as this engages the audience keeps them interested and keeps them guessing, which I believe in very important because if the audience are not interested there is little point for them to continue watching. We connected with the audience by making it about a normal person in a normal house supposedly leading a normal life, this is important as the audience can relater and think, well if this is happening to them this could happen to me as well, which would as I said earlier keep them on the edge of their seat and interested.

Robin hood and one other ‘British’ films ananlsyed

Media
Robin hood and one other ‘British’ films ananlsyed
Story and Plot: What is the film about? Does it relate to British subject matter
Robin Hood: The film Robin hood is simply about the British legend that was known as Robin Hood, it is a film about Hhis struggle against the evil Sheriff of Nottingham, and how he tries to steal from the Rich and give to the poor. This is about British subject matter as it is set i England about a English myth, which I beleieve makes it a
Green Street: Green Street is a film about English football hooligans, it does realte to British subject matter because it is set in England follows the story of some fans at a English football club, this I British subject matter in my eyes, as it follows British people doing Brisith things British area.
Actors: What nationality? Are stars used in the film?
Robin Hood: Yes stars are used in the film, one of them is Russel Crow, he is of New-Zealand decent and has south African Citenship. Another star in the film is Cate Blabchett again she is Australian. So the two top actors o0n this film abpout Bristish cultrue and neither of them are Britsish, which could suggest that this is not a British film.
Green street: Elijah Wood is the star actor in this film, he is a American actor which shows again that just becuase a film is based in Britain and is about British events it does not mean that eveyything that goes into creating the movie must be English
Director: Who is the director of the film? What nationality are they? Do you know any other films that they have directed?
Robin Hood: The director of the film is Ridley Scott, Ridley scot is actually British. He directed gladioator and Russel Crow was his star actor in that film aswell, this might suggest why he picked russel crow for the lea in this film aswell, so this would be a reaonon why he picedk him again, and this would suggestn why he picked and actor that was nit Biritsh,l also with him being a Bristish director it could give the film a bigger feeling of Britishness.
Green street: The director of this movie is called Lexi Alexander,s he is a German film director, two things abou this director seem odd when you realise that she directed the film green street, for one she is a woman and this film is one of those classic British macho moview about men getting into fight, furthermore she is German and since this is a very British film about British films it is interesting to take into acount that the director is German. However after reading abit about her it seems that she alot about such matter as her brother was a fanatical fan of thier local German side, and that is where she got the inpiration for the movie.

Style: How would you characterise the style of film?
Robin Hood: I would catagorise this style of film as retelling of hsitoric events.
Green street:I would catagorise this style of film as a violent film probably aimed at the male audience as it about both football and violence which is the stereotypcial view of what goes on in the male mind.
Genre: Does it belong to a specific gnere? If so which? Does it remind you of any other films?
Robin Hood: a would catagorise it as a action/history, as it is a action oriontated film thatremakes and retells historic events, I believe that as itr is historic movie about British histpry It can be classed as a British moveiw and this gnere does give it a certain amount of Britishness. IT does remind me of such films as kingdom of heaven, noth films are action orianted films that are based in medieval times.
Green Street: The genre of this movie would probably be classified as action/drama as it consists of aspects of both such films. As for films it remind me of, a film called adulthood comes to mind which is another British film that is about the life on the streets in England and the trouble that comes with it.

Production company: Who financed the film? Where is the production company based? Is it a co-production from different countries? Did any of the films receive funding from the Film Council?
Robin Hood: It was fincanced from a jnumber of production copmpanys, one of the being the directors own, Ridley Scotts, Scott Free productions, so this could be counted as Biritsh company. It was also finacned by Relativty Media, which is a American company and Imagine entertainment, which is another Unitated states based company, so overall it would be fine to assume that the majority of the money for this film came from America, which is a key factor in deciding what nationailty the film can be classed as.
Green Street: Green Street was produced by ther film company caleld Baker Street, sadly i could not find too much information on this production company as the wikepidia page for the had been deleted. However i could find out about the other production company invloved and this company is called Odd Lot Entertainment which is a proudction and financing company based in California, the only other film that Odd Lot Entertainment has helped produce is the blockbuster movie the Spirit.

Costume List

Costume list

The idea for this

music video is that we are going to have the characters wearing rough cloths, this is because we went ti connote that they are living on the edge and that they do not care too much about their appearance, also we want it to be suggested that they spend all their money on other things rather than their cloths, this will suggest that they are the stereotypical junkie.

The clothes for the male Character (While he is a junkie)

As you can see from the selection of cloths that I have got pictured out for the male character, I have decided to go for a rather rough look, I believe that darker jeans will be more suitable to the product as the colour black connotes a more mysterious and dark character, and altough not necessary evil this character could be seen as heading down the wrong path in life, as he is taking drugs.

Male character after he has sorted himself out

For this I think it would be appropriate for the character to be wearing a suit suggests that he is successful and maybe a high ranking businessman. The suit in question wll be a classic black blazer black tie black shoes black trouser and white shirt, also if possible we need as much of the whit e shirt to show as possible, thi is because whit e connotes that he is good and because he has changed into this new better person the white shirt will symbolize that very change.

Female character:

The female character will be wearing very similar cloths to that of the male character when he is a junkie but the female character will be wearing cloths like this for the entirety of the product, the same reason as for the male character is why she will wear this, but as her character does not get better I believe that it will also be effective if her cloths act

ually got in a worse condition throughout the prodct, as this will be able to show her worsened state of confusion throughout the product.

Basic Notes on Band and Song

Notes on the band that we are using for our misc video for media

They are called The Riot Tapes.

They are based on Eire.

The song we are using is called: Open Eyed Dream

Open Eyed dream the song is about two drug attics clinging on to each other.

Brief character Bio

Character bio

Sarah: ( Female character) Sarah is the name we are giving our Female character, she is a junkie and will able wearing rough cloths. Sarah has spent the vast majority of her life with Joe, who is her best friend these two do everything together, but is their relationship on the edge…

Joe: (Male character) Joe is the male character, this name is mentioned a few times in the lyrics, and that is why we picked the name for the character, Joe is a junkie but he is a bit annoyed with his life choice at this pionjt in time and is considering getting clean, however he has not told Sarah yet, and he is not sure of he is going to at all.

Analysing the lyrics for the song we are using for our media product (music video)

Analysing the lyrics for the song we are using for our media product (music video)

V1
( In this part of the song we will be setting the scene with a couple of location shots, as well as introducing our two characters, for the lyrics hey joe it might be fitting to have a shot of the female character looking at the male character)
Hey Joe
Where did you go
I have it all ready
Its ready to snow
Got the candlesticks lit
And my body's warm
Come Home

(For these lyrics we will show the character high and having fun together)
I'm just to high to sleep
Open Eyed Dreams

Stars, Streams, Lights Shining x2

CHORUS
( In this part of the song the male character Joe will disappear and the female character Sarah will disappear)
Then I fall down
And you slip away, yeah, yeah x2

V2
Hey Joe
Its all gone so wrong
Remember the good days
Remember our song
Its all just a bit
Too heavy I'm sick
Come Home
(In this part we are going to show our female character looking for the now presumed to be lost male character)

I'm just to high to sleep
Open Eyed Dreams

Stars, Streams, Lights Shining x2

CHORUS
Then I fall down
And you slip away, yeah, yeah, yeah x4

( With these lyrics below we are going to show what is assumed to be the male character in a suit, however when the female character looks at him it will turn out to be someone else)
Hey Joe
Where did you go
I had it all ready.......

Casting, why we picked the two actors we did

Casting for our media music video production we are going to need two actors one male actors and one femal actress, this is becaus in our media production we have one male and one femal part, the actor and actress we have decided to use are Flic Quinn and Jordan McDowell. We have chosen to use these two as they both did GCSE drama and got good grades, and I believe they both are now doing drama at AS level. This means that we have two people who are capable of acting, and as it is a music video the character they are playing will not be speaking parts, so they both need to be a good at improvisation and also very effective at conveying there feeling through facial and body expression rather than using words. Furthermore the characters they are playing are supposed to be good friends, this is a good thing because Flic and Jordan are good friends in real life and should be able to act the part when it comes to filming, as well as the fact that they have known each other for a while they should also be good at acting like they dislike each other and that they are both having trouble with their friendship, and of course that will be vital when filming them slipping further from each other when it comes to filming.

The danger of doing drug reference in our media production and how we are going to do it

Ideas for suggesting drug references in our music video

In our music video we need to reference drug abuse, without being to full on, so the props we are going to use need to be rather discrete. Ideas for discrete drug references that we could use could be, stuff such as normal cigarettes dotted around the floor.

I believe that make up could also be a very effective device to project the illusion that the characters in our music video are taking drugs, for example we could use make up to make there skin look pale, we could use it to give them that classic big eye bag look that some may associate with drug use, but most importantly and effectively I believe that if we could make it look like the characters have a variety of cuts and bruised on them it would like they have been up to no good, which one could associate with drug use.

To show the characters are high we could use the camera technique of filming in day time but using the camera in night vision mode as this can leave an interesting blurred and almost disoriented look, and if we use this effect while using it as a point of view shot it would suggest that the character could be high and that is why the world looks like that.

We must be careful though as I have been told that we can not be to full on when referencing drugs as it then might be unacceptable, and that is the last thing we want when trying to make a music video for A2 media, as it being unacceptable will greatly inhibit our products potential.

Analysing two album covers:
Coheed and Cambria: No World for tomorrow

On this album cover there is man standing in front of a futuristic city. It is in bland boring colours to show that this album is no joke, it looks slightly more serious than other album covers and seems to be telling a story, the world is falling apart and meteors are flying in all directions, it is trying to show I think that the this world is in trouble. Furthermore there is a empty black section on the top left of the cover, is this trying to show that this album is a dark album, maybe a heavier kind of music and not mainstream. There is also no writing on the album cover, this may suggest that the band only expect people who know the band really well to buy their music, I believe this because the bands logo is on the album cover so a Coheed and Cambria fan would automatically recognise the sign and then realise that this is a album they do not yet own.

Mastodon: Crack the Skye

This album cover is almost other worldly, sentient spirits seem to be on either sideof the frame, almost like guardians of a entrance. There is a other worldly looking sphere in the middle of the cover maybe to the two spirits are guarding this possible entrance this might be suggesting that listening to this album is a portal to another kind of music and should not be for the faint hearted, and this sort of music is different to that you have listened to before. The font type on this album cover is rather bold and easy to read and also seems to go with the rest of the album cover, as it seems to be almost mystical. The colours in the album are rather noble and bright colours. The two guardians seem to look like Czar from Russia, Czars would wear colour such as show on this album, this might be trying to show that this album is high quality, as suggested by the colours, or might be trying to show that it is brutal like the Czars were.

Basic plan for music video

Basic plan for our video
First overview
Our Music video will consist of two main actors of which the plot will revolve around.
The story line for the music video is that the two characters have been together for what seems like forever, this includes through their own hellish battle with drug addiction. However one of them makes it through the drug addiction and the other does not, this leaves both characters wondering how good/bad the others liver is and whether they should have tried harder to help the other person. This leaves the character who is still suffering from addiction to feel alienated and this state is elevated by the drugs they use turning into a uncontrollable feeling of paranoia. Some of the music video will follow this addicted character through their trauma. The final scene will be the two characters meeting one final time, the addicted character will still be that, addicted, while the other character will be finally happy and in control of their life. This contrast will be shown through the mise en scene and in particular the costume of the two character, the addict will be in rough cloths abd will look worse for wear, wile the other character will be looking sharp in a suit and will walk past the addict without even recognising them .
Split into parts

  • Part one, will be the two characters together, one male one female, they will be high and will be enjoying themselves and in particular each other’s company. This will give the audience a feeling of the two characters relationship as long lasting friends.
  • Part two. This part will be the breakup of the two characters as the both fight to become clean of their addiction, The male character will eventually win his battle while the female character will lose hers. This will strain the relationship until the male character can no longer wait for the female character to lose their struggle and he will cut her loos of his life
  • Part 3 will be the female character will be feeling alienated and alone and is depressed from losing her friend. As a result she ends up doing even more drugs. We will not seen the male character in this scene
  • art 4. In this climax the two characters will walk past each other and will not recognise each other until it is too late and then we will have a close up shot of the male character turning around with a puzzled look on his face trying to remember the face he once used to know. The mise en scene will be vital in this part as the two character need now to be shown as opposites, the clothing will be the key in showing this, the female character will be dressed in worn tatty cloths to show that she is a junkie, while the male character will be in a suit and will be looking like a valuable member of society.

Second music video essay

Music video

Name of music video: Dreaming of another world
Band: The Mystery jets

Director: Yoann Lemione
Date released: 2010

Genre: Alternative/Indie

The mystery Jets are an upcoming British band, their third album serotonin featured the single dreaming of another world, this was made into a music video in 2010 by director Yoann Lemione.

The music video is rather conventional to the genre of the music because we can see the band playing in various stages throughout the music video. It is conventional because the Indie or alternative style of music is very often composed with instruments such s guitars and drums, and in usual circumstances music that involves these style of instruments have bands playing the instruments in their music video to show off how talented the band is.

The mise en scene in this music video is rather unconventional for a band of the 21st century’s as is the style of video. For a start the costumes and set the band use in this particular music video are outfits that you would expect to see in the music videos of a older generation like that of 1960’s 70’s or 80’s. The cloths and setting gives the music video a very different fell from music videos that we usually have on T.V at the moment as it is daring to try and copy the past and make a scene so they can stand out.

The usual music video has a link between visuals and lyrics in the music video, however in this music video it is not that case as from watching it a couple time I can not pick out any obvious inks between the lyrics and the visuals apart from the times that they are actually singing the lyrics on screen, but I thought of that as more performing that actual links between the lyrics and lyrics.

I do feel however that there is some sort of link between the actual music and tempo of the music and the visuals that are shown on screen in the music video. By this I mean it can be illustrated in the way that the music is quite mellow and in the music video most of the way through the band are seen as chilling out and enjoying themselves. Right at the end the msuic starts to ahvea different tempo and this is illastrated in the msuci video with change of setting and lighting to go with this even slower tempo than before.

Thursday 1 July 2010

Music video

Name of music video: Sleep now in the fire
Band: Rage Against The Machine
Director: Michael Moor
Date released: 2000

As far as how conventional the video is to the genre of the music, it would be fair to say that it is fairly conventional, by this I mean it falls into the category of metal which is a sub genre of rock music, and the conventional video for rock music would be the band playing there instruments, and in this music video the band is seen to be playing their instrument, throughout the video.

The mise en scene in the video is also very conventional looking at location costume and expression and location. By expression the band while playing seem to be rather aggressive this connotes that the band does not care much about how they are perceived by other people by people who do not like there music, and all they care about is rocking out and going crazy and putting there crowd into a form of riot as it were. Location wise it is rather unconventional as it would be normal for a music video for this sort to have the band playing in front of a live crowd in arena of stadium but instead in this video the band are playing in front of the American stock exchange, this I feel is very unconventional for rock music and seems also to be very random, however this location fits in with the lyrics of the song.

Michael Moore uses visual and locations to fit in with the lyrics of the song. The song is about money and about how people in power abuse it which in turn means poor people who really need the money don’t get it as the richer people just become richer. You can tell this is what the song is about because every now and again graphics come up on the screen showing facts or figures that they believe everyone to be ignorant to, one of the facts that comes across the screen is the richest 10% of America own 80% of the wealth. One of the lyrics in the song is ‘The world is my expense’ and when this is sung there is a picture of Zak de la Rocha, the lead singer, in front of a background where there is loads of money also the writing is in green and the colour of green connotes greed. Also the video is filmed in front of a live audience of workers having their lunch brake, these workers you would assume would not be allowed to listen and enjoy the music that the band is playing as they are singing about how greedy people like these that work in the stock exchange are, and the lyric that is sung is ‘I am deep inside your children, They'll betray you in my name’ and this is edited to pictures of people form the stock exchange really enjoying the music and almost going crazy to the son out to the song, this is fitting as they should probably not be enjoying the music so much and this could be seen as them betraying the stock exchange in favour of rage against the machine.
Also there is a link between the music and the visuals. The music is a of a rather aggressive nature and this is displayed throughout the music video by the fast paced editing and the camera shots of the band playing their instruments in a somewhat aggressive manner, also the visuals of people jumping around and enjoying the music also fits in with the fast paced music as the anger of the music is displayed by these fans releasing their energy in what seems to be some sort of protest.

The music video is half performance based and half narrative based. Most of the way through the video the band is seen to be playing their music to a crowd. As far as it being narrative based it is only narrative based when they show a mock version of who wants to be a millionaire, the story line is linear as there is a clear division between the beginning and the end of the story.
